We cannot give medical advice by email

Please do not send clinical questions by email, and do not use email to ask about symptoms or test results. We cannot assess anyone from a written description, and email is not a secure route for medical information. For anything urgent, contact your GP or NHS 111; in an emergency, call 999. Clinical questions are answered in an appointment — see free community consultations.

Enquiry form

Send us an enquiry

One form for everything: programmes, admissions, consultations, membership, corporate work, press and general questions. Tell us what it is about and it reaches the right desk.

The one integration still to complete

This site is served as a static website, so there is no server to receive a form submission and no form backend is connected yet. The form below validates your details in the browser and then opens your own email application with the message already written, so that you can send it from your own address.

That means nothing reaches the college until you press send in your email app — but also that nothing you type is transmitted anywhere else, and no enquiry is silently lost. Connecting a form service is the one remaining integration to complete before launch. [CONFIRM: form service to be connected, and the date]

You can also write to us directly at enquiries@scmat.org.uk, or telephone +44 (0)20 7946 0000 during office hours.

Please do not include detailed medical information in an email. If your question is clinical, we will offer you an appointment instead of an answer.

Press & media

Press and media enquiries

The press office arranges interviews, provides expert comment and checks material for accuracy about Chinese medicine. We are as willing to discuss the limits of the evidence as its strengths.
  • Expert comment and interviews

Our Principal, Clinical Director and Director of Education can comment on Chinese medicine in the UK, acupuncture and herbal safety, regulation and training standards, and the state of the research evidence.

  • Background briefings

If you are writing about traditional medicine and need to understand the terrain quickly, we will brief you on and off the record, and point you to the primary sources rather than to our own views.

  • Fact-checking

We will review draft copy for accuracy about Chinese medicine at no charge, and tell you plainly where a claim in it is not supported. We do not ask for editorial control.

  • Filming and photography

Filming at the college, including in the teaching clinic and herb dispensary, is possible by arrangement with patient and student consent. Please allow time to organise this.

Complaints

Making a complaint

If something has gone wrong, we would rather hear about it than not. Complaints are handled formally, in writing, and are reviewed by the college's governance process.

Raise it with the college office first, in writing, at enquiries@scmat.org.uk. Most issues are administrative and are resolved at that stage. Complaints are acknowledged in writing within [XX] working days.

If you are not satisfied with the response, the complaints policy sets out the formal stages, the timescales at each stage, and how a complaint is escalated. Complaints about clinical care are reviewed by the clinical governance lead and feed into the audit cycle.

Nothing in the complaints process affects your right to raise a concern with an external body, and the policy explains which bodies apply. You can also read how the college is governed on the governance and quality assurance page.

What to include

To help us deal with a complaint promptly, include the date, the people involved, what happened, what you would like us to do, and copies of any correspondence. If your complaint concerns clinical care, say so in the subject line so that it is routed to the clinical governance lead rather than the general office.

Not sure who to ask?

Send one enquiry through the form and we will route it to the right person. If your question is clinical, we will offer you an appointment rather than an answer by email.
