Policies & quality assurance

Policies, procedures and quality assurance

The documents that govern how the college teaches, treats patients, handles data and answers to its students. They are published here in full rather than summarised, so that anyone can read the detail.

Status of these documents

Working drafts, published in the open

The college is at an early stage of formalising its governance. Rather than keep its policies private until they are finished, it publishes them as working drafts so that students, applicants and patients can see the standard being aimed at.

Working drafts — not yet formally adopted

Every policy on these pages is a working draft. None has yet been formally adopted by the college’s governing body, and none should be treated as a final statement of contractual entitlement until it has been. Adoption is scheduled for [DATE] by [COMMITTEE NAME].

Timescales, committee names, post-holders, review dates and statutory references are marked as placeholders throughout, in this style: [XX] working days. They are shown so that the shape of the finished document can be reviewed; they are not yet commitments. Where a policy describes a legal duty — for example under UK GDPR or the Equality Act 2010 — the duty applies now, regardless of the drafting state of the document that describes it.

Review dates shown against each policy are also placeholders. The college intends to adopt a two-year review cycle with an interim check after the first year, but the cycle itself is pending approval.

Using these policies

Where to raise a concern

Policies are only useful if it is obvious what to do with them. These are the routes.
  • A complaint about teaching, a service or a member of staff — follow the complaints procedure. Raising it informally first usually resolves it fastest.
  • A concern about the safety or welfare of a child or an adult at risk — contact the designated safeguarding lead without delay, as set out in the safeguarding policy. If someone is in immediate danger, call 999.
  • A clinical incident or adverse event — report it to the clinical supervisor or the Clinical Director the same day. See the health & safety policy.
  • A data protection request — write to the college office. The privacy notice explains your rights and the timescale we work to.
